About Telling Deeds

I'm Kate (not my real name.) I have taught art in various public schools in suburban DFW for fourteen years, and been blogging sporadically since 2004. Here are some things about me:

"You're supposed to be a teacher?!?!? Seriously, I'm horrified."

"Educaters; please get off your high-horses. You are not heros. You are simply spitting back textbook knowledge to someone who lacks that knowledge. You are as much of a hero as a truck driving school instructor."

"most unprofessional of all of the professions" & "You are not respected by the public at large because you haven't earned that respect." & "if you were to be evaluated as those are in my line of work you teachers wouldn't measure up."

My family is a huge part of my life. I have two sisters and a brother, two nieces and one nephew. I don't have any kids of my own, but I do have 170 students this year. Sometimes I love them, sometimes I actively mock them, mostly we learn from each other.

I enjoy writing, and have participated in NaNoWriMo several different years. Recently I've become more interested in the political sphere, especially the protests of Occupy Wall Street. Change is coming, and we are witnesses.
